Famous Author Lecture Series: lecture & lunch with Jane Lorenzini

Our final talk in the Famous Author Lecture Series begins with a lecture & lunch with Jane Lorenzini, and will be followed by a writing workshop! On Monday, April 13th from 12pm – 2pm, enjoy a lecture from Lorenzini, along with a delicious lunch prepared by G3 Catering. Then from 3pm – 5pm, interested writers may take part in her workshop. The Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center is located at 2301 First St. in the historic downtown Fort Myers River District.

After nearly ten years of writing non-fiction books, Jane Lorenzini decided to give fiction a shot. Three attempts and countless boxes of wine later, the result is After the Rain, a novel set in Southwest Florida in 1888.

Jane spent thirteen years as a television news anchor and reporter, nearly seven of those at WINK-TV. She went on to co-write two New York Times bestselling books with her dear friend and Today Show co-anchor Hoda Kotb, Jane’s coworker at WINK during the 1990s. Their books include: Hoda: How I Survived War Zones, Bad Hair, Cancer, and Kathie Lee and Ten Years Later: Six People Who Faced Adversity and Transformed Their Lives, plus a third book, Where We Belong: Journeys That Show Us the Way. In 2019, they released I Really Needed This Today, a book featuring 365 inspirational quotes. After the Rain is Jane’s debut novel, set in 1888 next door to Thomas Edison’s winter estate and laboratory. Decades ago, during her years at WINK, she fell in love with the property after interviewing a horticulturist who tended the acres of exotic gardens. Jane currently lives in Nashville and writes everywhere.

Author Jane will also be offering a writing workshop for an additional fee following the lecture, FICTION: NAVIGATING THE LEARNING CURVE.

Jane will share the most impactful lessons she learned during her process, and offer insights that might make your experience writing fiction more efficient and enjoyable. She will also discuss the roles of the unsung heroes in the writing process: the developmental editor, copyeditor, and proofreader.

The Famous Author Lecture Series is sponsored by FineMark Bank and Collins Vision.
