Southwest Florida LGBTQ doctor offering free medical marijuana educational events

Register for seminars

A Southwest Florida doctor is offering free educational events to answer questions about medical marijuana and help patients with the registration process.

Dr. Clint Potter of Advanced Individualized Medicine of Naples will host sessions on Nov. 8 and Nov. 29 at his office at 720 Goodlette Rd. N., Ste. 204, Naples, FL 34102. Each session will begin promptly at 6 p.m. with a discussion on the benefits of medical marijuana. He will separate fact from fiction and help people understand the process of registering to receive medical marijuana.

Following the discussion, individual consultations will help determine a patient’s eligibility. Patients that qualify can also register during the sessions.

“Finally in Florida we can be assured that patients are receiving safe, high quality cannabis and avoid the risks of ‘unknown mixes,’ from illegal drugs,” Dr. Potter said. “Studies backed by solid evidence prove medical marijuana is beneficial to thousands of patients suffering from back injuries, chronic pain, Cancer, MS, and a host of other debilitating conditions. Patients should have access to something that will help them.”

Amendment 2, signed into law November 2016, provides for the use of medical marijuana under the supervision of specially licensed physicians.

A study in the New England Journal of Medicine in 2013 revealed that nearly 8-in-10 doctors approved of the use of medical marijuana. A study in California published a year later found that 92 percent of medical marijuana patients said it alleviated symptoms of their serious medical conditions.

Dr. Potter hopes to educate the general public about the benefits and assist patients who can benefit from the treatment. He is a firm believer that providing access to regulated and monitored medical marijuana can provide some much-needed relief for many patients.

Space is limited for each of the educational sessions and RSVP is required. Register at naplesaim.com/register. Patients can also set up their consultation during registration.

Anyone who would like to register for medical marijuana the night of the events should bring medical records to support their diagnosis, if available. Patients who have the proper records and a consultation determines they are eligible to register, can complete registration that night.
