Free program offers information, referrals to SWFL agencies

The 2-1-1 service is a United Way program that provides free information and referral to human/ social service agencies.

United Way 211 is for non-emergency assistance only and is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Clients can call and receive information and referrals appropriate to their needs.

Southwest Florida is covered by the United Way of Collier County as well as the United Way of Lee, Hendry, Glades and Okeechobee Counties.

United Way 211 exists to help people navigate their way through the maze of human and social services agencies by providing the most adequate resources for the client’s situation. This efficient process promotes prevention and self-sufficiency by giving the clients easy access to services.

The calls are answered by trained information and referral specialists who will assess the client’s need and give appropriate referrals. Every call is completely confidential.

211 may not be reached on some hotel, cell, or pay phones. In these cases, 211 can be reached in Lee County at 239- 433-3900, Collier County at 888-369-7688 and Hendry/Glades at 800-887-9234.
